Invicta Pro Diver 1770 Chronograph Quartz 200M Men’s Watch

I and my team were performing a routine dive off the Louisiana coast. An underwater oil pipeline valve that had corroded needed to be replaced. During the underwater procedure, a heavy pipe wrench fell on my Seiko diver’s watch I was wearing and cracked the crystal resulting in the watch getting flooded and destroyed.

Deciding on which new diver’s watch to buy was a no-brainer because I liked the Invicta Pro Diver 1770 Chronograph Quartz 200M Men’s Watch that my buddy Allan uses. The White Stainless-steel bracelet is pearl white and shines even at depths of over 100M. Moreover, when he works near me, I can read the time on his watch quite clearly – and this at nearly 150M depth where natural light is almost non-existent and everything is inky black.

Unlike my old Seiko diver’s watch, the Invicta Pro Diver 1770 Chronograph Quartz 200M Men’s Watch has a 1/10th second counter, a 60-second counter and a 60-minute counter. This is precisely the precision required to ensure we don’t overstay at a given depth especially when using portable air tanks. We divers have to be ultra-alert and everything has to be precise because if we make even a small mistake, the sea is a very unforgiving place. It also explains why divers often wear more than one dive watch when diving – it’s like being double sure of how much time you have left.

The timer functions are extensively used – not just when using speciality tools in the deep, but also when we ascend to the water surface. Divers need to stop a few times on the way up to get rid of nitrogen from the body. At each stop, we use the count down timer to ensure we don’t hurry to the surface.

Apart from using the watch while diving, I also use the Invicta Men’s Watch in the pool (because I love to swim under the water holding my breath). In the pool, the watch tells me how long it took to complete a lap and how long I was underwater holding my breath. For a diver, this exercise is extremely important and can someday save his or someone’s life.

The Invicta Pro Diver 1770 Chronograph Quartz 200M Men’s Watch is 43mm across and has a dual colour (black and red) unidirectional bezel. The inside is 100% Japanese and the crystal is flame fusion and very reassuring.

Using the timer is as simple as pressing the top button. To stop the timer, just press the same button again. The lower button resets the timer – beautiful and simple and more importantly, can be achieved through my thick gloves while diving.
